Friday Hand Building - Evening
Friday Hand Building - Evening
September 22 - November 3
6 pm- 8 pm
Welcome to our new session of our hand building group classes
This is a 6-week class where you will learn techniques from ancient to modern times of building functional (or artistic if you prefer, that’s up to you) pieces by hand. You will learn how to coil clay into wonderful shapes, pinch them into place to make proper wobbly bowls, and use the slab roller to build vessels, bowls and boxes. Also included are lessons any alterations or additions after the pieces has been started, initial firings, glazing techniques, and final firings.
We will meet once a week for a 2-hour class. Practice time will be scheduled during the weekend open studio hours (or to be discussed for other hours during the week).
Participants should be 18+ years of age.
Cost for the 6-week session: $300 + $50 for materials (25 lb of clay, glazes, underglazes, and other decorative materials)
Additional clay could be purchased during the session if needed. $30 per bag of 25lb
Please bring your own apron. We will provide a container for your clay and tools. You can use our studio tools, but if you would like to have your own tool kit, you can purchase it for $20 upon request.
Firing fees will be charged during the session at $0.05 per cubic inch (due upon firing).
We do not offer refunds, but we will provide course credit if you give us notice at least a week before the session.
