About the Classes
General studio information
Classes, workshops, and private sessions are open to all levels, from beginner through experienced. Everyone goes at his or her own pace.
Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty (because you will get dirty), and bring a towel. Towels are not provided.
There is a maximum of 6 students per class unless otherwise noted.
Students are welcome to practice in between classes, provided the studio is open and there are no classes going on.
Cancellations: You must cancel at least 7 days before the start of the class or workshop to receive a full refund. If you cancel less than 7 days before the start of the class, half of the fee for the class is forfeit. No refunds once a course or workshop has begun.
Wheel classes
This is a 6-week class where you will learn the basics of the pottery wheel as well as how to center clay and pull shapes that will turn into bowls, mugs, plates, teapots, vases, and so much more. Those already experienced on the wheel can continue to hone your skills. Also included are lessons on altering the shape, trimming, creating a proper base for your piece to stand on, making and attaching handles, initial firings, glazing techniques, and final firings.
Participants should be 16+ years of age.
Cost of the 6-week class: $290 + $25 for clay
$10 for personal tool kit, but you’re welcome to use all tools that studio provides.
Firing fees - 5 cents per cubic inch, payed directly before each firing.

Hand-building classes
This is a 6-week class where you will learn techniques from ancient to modern times of building functional (or artistic if you prefer, that’s up to you) pieces by hand. You will learn how to coil clay into wonderful shapes, pinch them into place to make proper wobbly bowls, and use the slab roller and various template forms. Also included are lessons any alterations or additions after the pieces has been started, initial firings, glazing techniques, and final firings.
Participants should be 16+ years of age.
Cost of the 6-week class: $290 + $25 fo clay.

Private lessons (wheel or hand-building)
If you are looking for a more intensive, one-on-one setting and want to develop your skills at a faster pace or want to learn distinct aspects of altering clay and specific glazing techniques, then private classes might just be your thing. Each lesson is a 2-hour class with the individual attention of the teacher. At least two separate lessons are recommended for wheel sessions (taking into consideration time in between throwing, trimming, glazing).
Participants should be 16+ years of age.
Cost is $80 for a 2-hour session. Additional $20 for clay due at first session.

Introductory group workshops (wheel or hand-building)
This is a 2-hour introduction where you will learn basic techniques of centering and throwing on the pottery wheel or hand-building techniques such as slab rolling, coiling, and pinching. Pieces built on a wheel cannot be saved and glazed; however, hand-built pieces can be glazed and fired (for an additional $15 per piece), ready usually within 2 weeks.
Participants should be 16+ years of age. Minimum of 3 adults for a workshop.
Cost is $75 per person (glazing and firing not included).

Kids workshops
Classes for children will be held on the first Saturday of every month. These 2-hour workshops will predominantly focus on hand-building techniques. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Children ages 7+. Minimum of 3 children for a workshop.
Cost is $35 per child.

Workshops for adults and children
Want to play with mud alongside the little ones? We offer parents the opportunity to join in and get dirty as well. This 2-hour hand-building workshop will let you and your kid(s) make projects for each other.
Children ages 7+ for the hand building workshop.
12+ for the wheel workshop.
Cost is $80 per adult, $35 per child.
