Woman In a Hat
Nik Tarasik
Russian artist born in Belarus.
He uses his unique style to tell the mystical story of the past and future.
In the magical world created from his dreams and memories, the artist is an incredible mix - dramatist, playwright, director, and even actor - who steps out every now and then from behind the scenes in the form of a self- portrait.
He uses incredible techniques of Russian symbolism from the Silver Age to create and convey magnificent stories. But even when his characters are imaginary ones, he builds them from his own experience and images of people, animals, or subjects who have touched his life. Tarasik’s work encompasses a wide range of genres - portrait, landscape, still life - but every painting is a story and very often the story spreads across several paintings.
In 1996, he was inducted as a Member of the Union of Artists by the Russian Federation. Since 2007, he has been living in Moscow. Most of his work is done in tempera, but he also uses pastels and oils.
