Forager’s Art Workshop
With the goal of cultivating creativity through a connection to the land, we will begin by foraging for natural materials and learn about their role in the ecosystem. Exploring the wild with an artist’s gaze will reveal colors, shapes, textures, and details that cast your surroundings in a new light.
We’ll bring our finds to Hall Space and arrange beautiful still lives, composing powerful and poetic forms on an assortment of surfaces and materials. Bette Blau and Steven Randazzo will work with you to photograph your nature masterpiece and send you the file to print. Walk and workshop led b by Bette Blau of What Bette Found.
Stained Glass Panel Workshop
This workshop is designed for beginners but will be enjoyable to those with previous stained glass experience, especially due to the latitude you’re allowed in designing your piece. Perfect for anyone who desires to dabble in small form sculpture, glass, color, and line design. During this workshop, you will be introduced to the world of stained glass and learn the fundamentals of designing stained glass art, including the skills involved in the Tiffany method.
We will offer tips for designing your piece, help with selecting and shaping each of its elements, and finally soldering it all together. You’ll leave this workshop with a beautiful one-of-a-kind stained glass work of art. There will be plenty of pictures and templates available to help you create your design in the workshop but feel free to bring some design ideas/sketches with you and we will help you bring them to life. All materials provided.
Meet Bette Blau:
With a BFA in painting from School of Visual Arts, Bette began her career as a set decorator and tabletop stylist, - painting with objects through production.
After many years, she transitioned into photography and back into her love of painting and collage.
Using her lifelong and varying vintage collections of books and paper, Bette “paints” collages creating texture and depth, using and creating multiple layers which are peeled away to uncover what is beneath.
Her studio, located in Barryville, surrounded by nature, inspires her natural work.
Meet Cheryl Perry:
Cheryl has a BFA in Sculpture from School of Visual Arts. She has a wide range of teaching experience and loves all creative endeavors. She is constantly exploring new media and ways to work.
