$380.00

April 26 - June 7 (no class on May 17th)

11 am - 1 pm

Participants should be 16+ years of age.

Cost of the 6-week class: $350 + $30 materials fee (coast of clay, glazes, underglazes, etc.)

Firing fees will be charged during the session at $0.10 per cubic inch (due upon firing).

This is a six-week hand-building course focused on the human figure, lead by amazing artist Lia Strasser.

During this course students will explore the human form through simplified shapes, gesture, and intuitive hand-building techniques. Students will create small ceramic sculptures with an emphasis on mass, proportion, and expression rather than strict realism. Throughout the sessions, you will learn to work from simple forms, develop gestures, and refine pieces for firing.

All work will be hollowed, kiln-fired, and finished with a surface treatment during the final session. The course will culminate in a small group showing of student work.

This course is open to all levels. No prior experience necessary.

P.S.: Lia’s portrait by Dani Case.

Bryan Cronk is a ceramics artist based in Sullivan County, nestled in the Catskills region of New York. He specializes in crafting rustic, handmade pottery that reflects his love of natural textures and forms. Bryan discovered ceramics through evening classes at a community studio in Long Island City, NY, using it as a therapeutic escape from his corporate career. After leaving the NYC office life behind and moving upstate, he set up a cozy home studio to pursue his dream of becoming a full-time potter—getting closer to that goal with each passing year.
