The Bruise Project (located in the bathroom):

The Bruise Project are isolated abstract life-sized, yet small watercolor paintings of our contusions. There are numerous words to describe a bruise - some medical (ecchymosis, hematoma, lividity, petechia) some slang (black-and-blue mark, blemish, strawberry , discoloration, black eye, love bite, goose egg, mark, welt, hickey, boo-boo, or shiner.)

Whatever the reason- this condition is a human one, and it jumps up and gets us all at one time or another. A poorly caught baseball, an unfortunate spontaneous meeting with a poorly placed piece of furniture, a blood draw, an unexpected terrain change, the trying of something hard again and again... and again), the cruelty of a bully, a surgical recovery, an accident. Inevitably, a bruise takes on the identity of the cause (at least in the owners mind). Nonetheless bruises are a part of life and living.

Watercolor as a medium is begging to recreate these skin blooms. They evolve daily, reflecting an ever changing rainbow representing hurt and healing.
